Patent and Pharmaceutical Law Experts to Speak at September 23 Symposium
Some of the leading figures in intellectual property and pharmaceutical law will address top-level issues affecting patent law and the drug industry at the second annual “Patent Law and Pharmaceuticals Symposium,” to be held from noon – 5:30 pm on Tuesday, September 23, at Rutgers School of Law–Newark. The symposium is co-hosted by the New Jersey Intellectual Property Association and sponsored by Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
The Honorable Pauline Newman, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, will deliver the keynote address at the opening lunch. The Honorable Stanley R. Chesler, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, will discuss with leading practitioners the proposed adoption of local rules governing the conduct of patent litigation in the state. An Antitrust Panel with Associate Professor C. Scott Hemphill of Columbia Law School, Associate Professor Daniel A. Crane of Cardozo School of Law, and Professor Keith Sharfman of Marquette Law School will then discuss the latest developments at the intersection of pharmaceutical patent law and antitrust. Rutgers Professor Sabrina Safrin, co-director of the law school’s Center for Law, Science and Technology, will moderate. The final panel will feature senior in-house counsel discussing critical issues confronting the pharmaceutical industry.
The symposium, including lunch and cocktail reception, is free. CLE credit will be provided.
