The Honorable Cory A. Booker, Mayor of the City of Newark, will deliver the convocation address at the Friday, May 23 commencement for Rutgers School of Law–Newark at which the Juris Doctor degree will be conferred on 249 graduates. The ceremony will begin at 10 am at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) following a bagpiper-led procession of commencement participants from the law school building at 123 Washington Street.
"The Class of 2008 is particularly noteworthy because of their many achievements – both as a group and individually – during their time here at Rutgers," said Dean Stuart L. Deutsch. "From organizing symposia with world-renowned legal experts, to securing a coveted Skadden Fellowship, to founding our Street Law program, to winning prominent legal prizes and scholarships, the graduating class has brought well-deserved recognition to our students and the law school. What's more, their accomplishments are sure to continue as they enter the profession in judicial clerkships at both the state and federal level, and in coveted jobs at top law firms, state and federal government agencies, and numerous businesses and non-profit organizations."
Other speakers at the ceremony will include legal historian Mark S. Weiner, Professor of Law and Sidney I. Reitman Scholar, as the faculty speaker and Brian Moore, Class of 2008, as the student speaker. | Read Story
