The White House today announced the appointment of Elizabeth Warren, Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard University, as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Following is the statement issued by Dean John J. Farmer, Jr.:
“The Rutgers School of Law–Newark community is very proud that Elizabeth Warren, Class of 1976, has been assigned the critical job of setting up the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. As has been true of many of our students, Professor Warren came to Rutgers–Newark from a less than privileged background and graduated with a profound appreciation for the ability to make a difference afforded by her law degree. Her commitment to fairness and integrity in consumer credit and lending practices makes her an outstanding choice for this position.”
