A November 18, 2010 panel discussion at Rutgers School of Law–Newark will explore issues facing lawyers in helping to obtain asylum for clients affected by gendered discrimination and discrimination based on sexuality. “Sexual and Gender Equality in Immigration and Asylum Law” is sponsored by the law school’s Human Rights Forum, LGBTQ Caucus, and Immigrant Rights Collective. Lawyers from the private and public sectors will provide practical information on how the asylum process works, as well as barriers and successes that lawyers working in the area of immigration and asylum law might encounter.
