Issues created by United States immigration laws and proposals for reforming current immigration policy will be covered at the all-day, Friday, March 4, 2011 symposium “Redefining Borders: Comprehensive Immigration Reform in the United States.” The symposium will be held at Rutgers School of Law–Newark and is sponsored by the school’s online journal, the Rutgers Law Record, and the Rutgers Immigrants Rights Collective.
The day will consist of four panels that will each focus on a different area of U.S. immigration law. Among the topics to be covered are: expanding H 1B visas, creating visas for unskilled workers, the DREAM Act, redefining family categories, the effect of increased enforcement on immigration adjudication, detention practices, and the legality of government raids.
