Law Students From Rutgers–Newark and Seton Hall Will “Take Back the Night” With April 13 March and Rally

Throughout its history, Take Back the Night has motivated both women and men to confront a myriad of social ills, including rape, sexual violence, domestic violence, and violence against women and children. The common thinking underlying the diverse support for Take Back the Night is the assertion that human beings have the right to be free from violence, the right to be heard, and the right to walk in their community free from fear of sexual violence.

Rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, and domestic violence are often labeled “crimes of silence” because of lower reporting rates and social discomfort with their public discussion. On April 13, 2011 Rutgers School of Law–Newark and Seton Hall University School of Law will join to end the silence and Take Back the Night.

7:30 pm: March participants meet for Rally at Newark’s Military Park

Opening by event organizers Laura Marchini and Ione Curva, co-chairs of the Rutgers’ Women’s Law Forum, and Shari Genser and Kate Matos, co-chairs of the Seton Hall Take Back the Night Committee
