More than 400 people are expected at the Hilton at Short Hills on Thursday night, November 1, when the Alumni Association of Rutgers School of Law–Newark recognizes the accomplishments of Lawrence E. Bathgate, II (Class of ’64), Angelo J. Genova (Class of ’78), and Nancy Biberman (Class of ’73). Bathgate, who is president and senior partner of Bathgate Wegener & Wolf, P.C., and Genova, senior partner of Genova Burns & Vernoia, will each receive a Distinguished Alumnus Award. Biberman founder and president of the New York City-based Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDCo), will receive the Fannie Bear Besser Award for Public Service.
Prominent figures from the legal, business, and political communities will take part in recognizing the honorees. Former New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean will present the award to Bathgate, a leading Republican fundraiser and former chair of the Republican National Finance Committee. New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez (Class of ’79) will present the award to Genova, who for more than 25 years served as counsel to the New Jersey Democratic Party. Daniel L. Greenberg, head of the pro bono practice group at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP and former president of the New York Legal Aid Society, will present the award to Biberman.
David S. Garber (Class of 1988), president of Princeton Legal Search Group LLC, is chair of the awards dinner. Marc E. Berson (Class of 1968), chairman of the Fidelco Group, and Anthony R. Coscia (Class of 1984), partner at Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf LLP and chair of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, are honorary co-chairs.
