Rutgers School of Law–Newark alumnae engaged in corporate work in large firms and global corporations will be the panelists for tonight’s annual “Ladies Day” celebration sponsored by the Women’s Law Forum. The panel presentation and networking forum will be followed by a dinner reception. The cost, which includes the reception, is $8 for students, $15 for non-students.
The Ladies’ Day event traces its history to Harvard Law School in the 1960s; it was the only day on which then property Professor W. Barton Leach would allow female students to speak in class. Inspired by the evolution of the role of women in both law schools and the legal community, student groups throughout the country now use Ladies’ Day to commemorate women’s progress in the legal profession and to highlight the barriers women have overcome to become successful in lawyers.
