The Child Advocacy Clinic at Rutgers School of Law–Newark, AARP NJ and Grandma K.A.R.E.S. are hosting a free Caregiver Conference on Friday, May 11, 2012 for grandparents or other relatives who are raising a child. The annual conference attracts more than 200 kinship caregivers.
Information (in both English and Spanish) will be available at resource tables and workshops on such topics as Public Assistance, Legal Rights, Special Education, Gang Prevention, Internet Safety, and Identity Theft Prevention.
The Hon. Mildred Crump, Newark City Council member-at-large, will be the keynote speaker. Also expected to attend are New Jersey State Senator Teresa Ruiz and Newark Council member Ronald Rice.
