Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to cover educational expenses for both full-time and part-time law students. Most of you have already applied for aid and will be receiving your financial aid package shortly. Please note: If your student status changes in any way, i.e., if you change your credit load (full-time/part-time), your housing status (living with parents/on-campus/off-campus) or your residency status (NJ/Non-Resident), there will be a corresponding change in your cost of attendance and in your financial aid eligibility. Please contact the law school’s Financial Aid Coordinator to discuss how changes will impact your aid, especially your eligibility for Graduate PLUS or private educational loans.

If you would like to apply for financial aid and haven’t done so yet, submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. File online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Provide the Federal Title IV code number for Rutgers University (#002629) so your information will be forwarded to the university after it has been processed.

Students who have filed a FAFSA application and have submitted all required financial aid documents will receive an email when their official 2011-2012 Financial Aid Award Package from Rutgers has been generated. The email will direct you to www.studentaid.rutgers.edu; select “Check Award Status” to view your Financial Aid Award Letter. Please review your package and the attached Data Change Form (DCF) carefully. The DCF can be used to make any needed corrections/changes to your enrollment or housing status, or to make other changes to your financial aid package. This site will also provide information on any required financial aid documents needed by the university.
