Elizabeth Lorenz Acevedo has been appointed Assistant Director in the Office of Career Services at Rutgers School of Law–Newark. Acevedo joined the law school from the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, where she was a deputy bureau chief.
“Beth has been a terrific addition to our office,” said Stephanie Richman, Assistant Dean for Career Services. “At the Bronx DA’s Office, she supervised and trained many new attorneys, oversaw the internship program in the Domestic Violence Bureau, and conducted dozens of interviews for office-wide positions. These experiences, combined with her many years of practice, give her a unique perspective from which to assist our students and graduates in managing their professional development and careers.”
Acevedo joined the Bronx DA’s Office in 1997. She served as a trial assistant in the Domestic Violence, Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Bureau; a trial assistant in the Domestic Violence Bureau, where she was the lead prosecutor in jury and bench trials and suppression hearings; and as supervisor before her promotion to deputy bureau chief.
Acevedo is a graduate of American University Washington College of Law, where she was a Dean’s Fellow. She received a B.S. in political science from the University of Scranton.
