The school's strong and historic commitment to public service is evident throughout the curriculum, particularly in our eight legal clinics, where students are exposed to the legal issues facing the poor and under-represented. Noncurricular public interest opportunities and activities, carried out under the Eric R. Neisser Public Interest Program, include pro bono work, internships, fellowships, summer placements, and loan repayment assistance, as well as regular programming about public issues. We encourage our students to participate in service activities while in school and to pursue public interest careers or provide pro bono services as a life-long commitment. Faculty members lead by example, devoting many hours to public service through clinical and pro bono practice. Many alumni represent the less fortunate of our society as attorneys; serve the interests of justice on the bench; work in nonprofit organizations; or hold positions in various levels of government. |
